Judges 16: Who was Delilah? How did she trap Samson?  How did Samson die?

Judges 17: Who was Micah and what did you learn about his character?

Judges 18: What were the spies from Dan on their way to do when they stopped at Micah’s house? Later, what did the men of Dan convince Micah’s priest to do?

John 21: What were the disciples doing when Jesus appeared? What did Jesus call the disciples when he shouted to them from the shore?  What did Peter ask Jesus after he received Jesus’ command to feed His sheep?

Journal Prompt: What lessons do you learn from Samson’s life?

Answers:

Judges 16:  Delilah was a woman from the valley of Sorek. She was a Philistine who Samson fell in love with and who trapped him into telling her what caused his strength – his hair.  In fact his hair was not the culprit, it was the Holy Spirit which God withdrew from him because of his unfaithfulness to God. Samson died when his strength return and though his eyes were gouged out he was able to push against the pillars of the temple of the god Dagon and forced the collapse of the building killed 3,000 Philistine men and women.

Judges 17:  Micah was obviously a man of low character – he stole money from his mom and when he returned it – she gave him money to build a shrine.  He ‘hired’ a Levite to be a priest which seems pretty sketchy – especially since he felt God would prosper him because of it.

Judges 18: They were going to spy out land for their inheritance.

They convinced him to serve them, a tribe, as priest rather than serve just one household. John 21:  The disciples were fishing – six disciples joined Peter.  It seems that they didn’t know what to do.  Jesus called the disciples “children”.  Peter ask Jesus if John would die before His return
