Thursday 4-April Joshua 13-14 Ps 41 John 10

Joshua 13: What land had not yet been conquered that was promised by God?  What was Joshua commanded to do with regards to that land?

Joshua 14: What did Caleb request?  How old was Caleb?

John 10: Which “I am” statements does Jesus make in this chapter?

Journal Prompt: What do these “I am” statements mean to you?  Refer to Exodus 3:13-15.

Answers:

Joshua 13; “This is the land that yet remains: all the regions of the Philistines, and all those of the Geshurites (from the Shihor, which is east of Egypt, northward to the boundary of Ekron, it is counted as Canaanite; there are five rulers of the Philistines, those of Gaza, Ashdod, Ashkelon, Gath, and Ekron), and those of the Avvim, in the south, all the land of the Canaanites, and Mearah that belongs to the Sidonians, to Aphek, to the boundary of the Amorites, and the land of the Gebalites, and all Lebanon, toward the sunrise, from Baal-gad below Mount Hermon to Lebo-hamath, all the inhabitants of the hill country from Lebanon to Misrephoth-maim, even all the Sidonians.

Joshua was commanded to allot it to the tribes of Israel (even though they did not yes possess it)

Joshua 14: Caleb asked for the land that he had been promised by Moses when he spied on the land – remember he and Joshua were the only two who recommended that they invade the Promised land – the other spies convinced the Israelites that it was too dangerous. Caleb was at this point 85 years old.

John 10: Two of Jesus’ “I am” statements mad ein this chapter are: I am the door. I am the great shepherd.
