Monday, March 23  Deuteronomy 10-14; Psalm 5; Luke 8

Deuteronomy 10:  Who are the Israelites called to love? (verses 16-19)

Deuteronomy 11: What important point does Moses make in verses 1-7?

Deuteronomy 12: What are the Israelites commanded to do when they take over the land the Lord will give them?

Deuteronomy 13: Who will God send to test the purity of their devotion to God?

Deuteronomy 14:  Are they able to eat the meat from animals that they find dead?

Luke 8: What is the purpose of the parables? What miracles did Jesus perform? What did he tell those who received the benefit of the miracle?

Journal Prompt:  Re-read Deuteronomy 11:26-28.  Write about the circumstances that bring about blessing and curse?
What do you think Jesus means in Luke 8:18 when He says, “Be careful HOW you listen”?

Deuteronomy 10:  The Israelites were calle not only to love their fellow Israelites but the strangers in the land.

Deuteronomy 11:  Moses makes the pint that the children who would be entering into the Promised Land did not witness some of the ‘marvelous acts’ of the Lord when He rescued the people from Egypt, parted the Red Sea, etc.  It was up to the older generation to share their testimony with the younger.  The same holds true today – we must share our knowledge of the Lord with our children and impress upon them the importance of having a relationship with them.

Deuteronomy 13: God will test their hearts by sending prophets that are able to perform signs and wonders and then tries to convince them to worship other gods.

Deuteronomy 14: The Israelites cannot eat meat from animals which they find dead, but the foreigners living in their midst can eat it.

Luke 8:  The purpose of the parables was to teach the followers of Jesus about His kingdom using illustrations that would clarify or obscure the message depending on the heart of the one who heard the message.

Miracles:

Jesus calmed the storm.  He rebuked the disciples: “Where is your faith?”

Jesus heals a man with a demon.  Jesus didn’t allow him to follow Him.  He told him ” Return to your home, and declare how much God has done for you.”

Jesus heals a woman who had been bleeding for 12 years.  He told her ” Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace.”

Jesus healed Jairus’ daughter.  ” he charged them to tell no one what had happened.”
