Friday 19-April Ruth 1-2; Eccl 8:10-17; Acts 2

Ruth 1:Where did Naomi and her husband and children come from and where did they go and why?

Ruth 2: What was their plan to provide for their needs? Did Boaz know anything about Ruth? Did their plan work?

Acts 2: Who gathered around the disciples and why? Who addressed the crowd? How many people became believers in Jesus Christ and were baptized?  Who was responsible for adding new disciples?

Journal Prompt:  What stands out to you about Peter’s sermon in Acts 2?

Answers:

Ruth 1: They were from Bethlehem and they went to Moab because of a famine in Israel.

Ruth 2: Naomi identified Boaz a relative and hoping to find favor with him, Ruth volunteered to glean in Boaz’ field hoping to find favor.   Boaz had heard about Ruth and the fact that she had left her family to be return to Bethlehem with Naomi which he felt was very admirable.  He was someone who could be her kinsman-redeemer.  Yes their plan worked

Acts 2: Devout men from every nation under heaven who lived in Jerusalem gathered together when they heard the sound of the Holy Spirit speaking through the disciples in different languages. Peter addressed the crowd with an unbelievably articulate sermon.  After Peter’s sermon 3,000 were baptized and in the days that followed ” the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.” (v. 47)
