2 Chronicles 10: Why was Israel in rebellion to the house of David?

2 Chronicles 11: What did the Levites (the priests and caretakers of the sacrificial system and the temple) do when the kingdom was divided any why?

2 Chronicles 12: What messages did Jeroboam receive from the Lord

1 Corinthians 16: What were Paul’s plans?  Who did he mention and why?

Journal Prompt: Do you ever feel like Job in chapter 21?

Answers:

2 Chronicles 10:  Solomon’s son, Jeroboam, ignored wise counsel and levied heavy taxes on the people and treated them harshly, so they rebelled.  (I find it interesting that the authors of the Chronicles seemed to overlook Solomon’s shortcomings, yet they went no further in overlooking the subsequent kings’ errors)

2 Chronicles 11: The Levites who were dispersed throughout Israel, abandoned their pasturelands and property and they all went to Jerusalem. They did this in part to continue serving the Lord and also because Jeroboam and his sons had rejected them and selected their own priests.

2 Chronicles 12: The Lord told Jeroboam that because under his leadership the people had abandoned God, he would allow Shishak, the king of Egypt to attack them.  Jeroboam and the people humbled themselves, and the Lord relented and prevented Shishak from destroying them, but the Lord told him they would be servants to Shishak so they could see the difference between serving the Egyptians and serving the Lord.

1 Corinthians 16: Paul said he was going to stay in Ephesus until Penetcost, then he planned to pass through Macedonia and then stay with them for perhaps a winter. He told them Timothy would be coming to Corinth. He also told them that Stephanas, Fortunatus and Achaicus had arrived in Ephesus and had brought things for him that the Corinthians had failed to provide!!
