Tuesday September 3 Isaiah 40; Psalm 106:1-24; Hebrews 4

Isaiah 40; Isaiah asks, “Do you not know?  Have you not heard?  What is he referring to?

Ps 106:1-24; This psalm is like an apostrophe to the Isaiah passage!  Praise the Lord!

Hebrews 4: How is the Word of God living and powerful? Why can we come boldly to the thrown of grace?

Journal Prompt:  The first verse of Hebrews 4 “Therefore, while the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us fear lest any of you should seem to have failed to reach it.”  What does “the promise of entering His rest” mean to you?

Answers:

Isaiah 40:  He is asking a somewhat rhetorical and almost ironic question to the order of how can you NOT know or NOT heard about our God – His signature is on absolutely everything.  It’s practically impossible to not see God’s hand in everything.  And for those who say “the Lord isn’t here, Isaiah reminds us that “He is The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth”.  We need to never ever lose sight of the fact that: “those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.

Hebrews 4: The Word is in us and will guide us. We are a living example of the word. Obedience to the Word will affect our soul and spirit. The word also reveals our condition.

Jesus was tempted, as we are and remained sinless. We can draw on His purity for strength in our temptations and His mercy and grace when we fall.
