Journal Prompt: We read about terrible times in the three chapters of our readings today. Do you feel like we are living through terrible times now? If so, in what way? If not, why not?
Answers:
Jeremiah 43: Johanan, who had asked Jeremiah for God’s word and vowed to obey it, did the exact opposite and led the women and children to Egypt. God commanded Jeremiah to bury large stones under the pavement at the entrace to the Pharoah’s palace to mark as the cornerstones for the place that the king of Babylon would come and establish his throne and take over Egypt.
Jeremiah 44: Jeremiah prophesied that those Israelites who went to Egypt would die there with the exception of a few. The women continued to offer incense to the Queen of Heaven and to make cakes with her image impressed upon them – their husbands seemed to condone this.
Revelation 18: The woman controls all commerce and materialism on earth.
