Tuesday 19-February Leviticus 21-22; Ps 22; Mark 12

Mark 12: What is one of the main differences between the Sanhedrin and the Pharisees? (v. 18) How did they try to trick Jesus?  When asked what was the greatest commandment, what was Jesus’ answer?

Journal Prompt:  What does the greatest commandment from Mark 12 mean to you?

Answers:

Mark 12: The Sanhedrin didn’t believe in resurrection.  They tried to trick Jesus by challenging Him to answer what would happen in Heaven if a woman was widowed various times – which of the husbands would be with her in heaven.

Jesus answered the scribe by saying the greatest commandment was to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength and to love your neighbor as yourself.  This is a two-part commandment. The scribe went on to add, “<this> is much more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.”
