Psalms 26;40;58;61-62;64
Psalm 26 is attributed to David which is a bit surprising, don’t you think? David has definitely not led a ‘blameless life’ (NIV). We see a lot of the recent events in his life as being consequence of his sin, yet he claims righteousness before the Lord. He states that he “does not consort with hypocrites”, but Nathan had clearly called him a hypocrite when he used the parable to point to his sin. Many years have obviously passed since the incident with Bathsheba and Uriah. Do you think that David had prayed for forgiveness and received it and was able to claim complete restoration of a right relationship with God? How about us? When we sin and ask for forgiveness, do we feel as if our sin has been washed away completely, or do we tend to hold on to that sin and let that keep us from enjoying intimate communion with God? I’d love to know what you think.
