Today’s Old Testament Reading

Psalms 32/51/86/122

There certainly is consequence for sin – and this is evident in the remainder of David’s life. The Lord had brought him to a place of abundance – and that seems to be the turning point in his life. Perhaps it was during that period of prosperity and success that David stopped relying so completely on the Lord. I can’t imagine that he was in close communion with God while he was lusting after Bathsheba and plotting the murder of Uriah. To me, these passages make me realize that in ALL times, we must remain connected to the vine (by constantly seeking the Lord) and be aware that Satan is lurking – waiting – looking for any opportunity to get a foothold in our lives – particularly when we find ourselves in places of abundance.
