Journal Prompt: How can Psalm 69 help us when we are going through trials and desperate to hear from the Lord?
Answers:
2 Kings 1: King Azariah knew the prophet was Elijah because he was either hairy or he wore a hairy garment. And he wore a leather belt. Azariah died. Jehoram was his brother. Note that the king of Judah was also named Jehoram (or Joram) – they are NOT one and the same!
2 Kings 2: Elisha asked Elijah to give him a double portion of Elijah’s spirit upon Elisha. Elisha took the cloak of Elijah and struck the water which parted the water, just as Elijah had done in verse 8.
The problem in Jericho is that the water was bad and the ground barren, so Elijah had them bring a bowl of water, he added salt and the Lord cured the situation.
2 Kings 3: He called upon Jehoshaphat, king of Judah.
He provided water for the men and their animals.
Romans 9: Paul laments for his fellow Jews who have rejected Christ. He says he would willingly die for them to come to faith in Jesus. The children of God are those that are of the promise to Abraham through Sarah. The children of the flesh are those who came through Hagar the servant of Sarah.
