Journal Prompt: When Jesus and the disciples arrived in the Garden of Gethsemane on that fateful night, Jesus instructed them to “Pray that you may not enter into temptation.” Why do you suppose that is one of His final instructions?
Answers:
Deuteronomy 23: The nations that refused to allow the Israelites to pass through their land on their journey to the promised land were forbidden to enter the assembly. (Moab and Ammon)
Deuteronomy 24: The poor are to be treated fairly – special concern given to the sojourners, the orphans and the widows.
Luke 22: The disciples argued about who would be greatest in the kingdom. When Jesus prayed to God: “if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done” in the Garden of Gethsemane and angel from Heaven came to Him and strengthened Him. (v. 43)
