1 Chronicles 7-9:  I know these genealogies are tedious – but I hope you were able to watch the Bible Project video

This is so very helpful for understanding Chronicles.

What main change do you see in the genealogies after 1 Chronicles 8? (pay close attention to verses 1-2 of 1 Chronicles 9)

1 Corinthians 5: What sin is Paul condemning?

Journal Prompt: These genealogies were memorized and passed down from generation to generation orally. Can you imagine? What about you? Do you regularly memorize scripture? If so, how does this enrich your life? If not, you might want to embark upon this adventure!

Answers:

1 Chronicles 7-9:  After all of the genealogies from Adam to the ‘present’, 1^st Chronicles begins to provide a list of those who returned to Israel after the 70 years of captivity in Babylon. Of course, then at the end of chapter 9, the genealogy of Saul is repeated.

1 Corinthians 5:  Paul condemns the sin of incest – a man sleeping with his father’s wife – probably a step-mother.
