Journal Prompt:  What does it mean to ‘enter God’s rest’?

ANSWERS

Leviticus 4:  These offerings were to provide atonement for unintentional sin.

Leviticus 5:The alternatives for a sin offering were a female lamb or goat, two turtledoves or two pigeons; or a “tenth of an ephah of fine flour for a sin offering.

Leviticus 6: If a person was guilty of stealing he was to repay it fully (which cost him nothing) and add 1/5 more which cost him something more.  With the exception of the burnt offering (it’s completely burned), the meat (after a portion is offered to the Lord) as well as the unleavened bread can be eaten by the priests and their sons in the courtyard of the Tabernacle.

Leviticus 7: The fat and the blood must never be eaten. The consequence is being cut off from the community. (v. 24-26)

Hebrews 3: The consequence of unbelief is the inability to enter God’s rest.  We can be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.
