Leviticus 24: Why was the son of  Shelomith put to death? Which command from this chapter did the priests and Pharisees condemn Jesus of?

Leviticus 25: What is the Sabbath year? And what is the year of Jubilee? Does God allow the Israelites to lend money?

Hebrews 9:  What is necessary for God forgive sin?

Journal Prompt: What do you find yourself doing to try to earn the favor and forgiveness of Jesus?  Is there anything you can do to cause Jesus to love you any more than He does right now? Explain.

Leviticus 24: The son of Shelomith was put to death because he blasphemed the name of God and cursed. The priests and Pharisees charged Jesus with blasphemy for claiming to be the Son of God. (Matthew 26:25 and others)

Leviticus 25:  The Sabbath year was the seventh year – there was to be no planting or working of the lang.  The Israelites could eat whatever crops yielded a harvest.”This might seem like it would be a hardship, but God promised them that if they would do this, the land would produce such a bountiful harvest on the sixth year that they would be able to eat from the harvest for three years, giving them plenty of opportunity to plant and grow their crops following the two fallow years.” (from christianity.com)

The year of Jubilee was every 49 years – all property was to revert to the original owner and slaves were to be set free.  There were quite a few intricacies of this law, but basically the purpose was for the poor of the land to be able to get out of debt and be restored.

God does not allow the Israelites to charge interest on money lent to fellow Israelites.  They can lend money.

Hebrews 9:  The shedding of blood is necessary for the forgiveness of sins(v. 22).
