Journal Prompt:  How do we grieve the Holy Spirit

ANSWERS

Exodus 16: The people complained that they would have been better off if God had killed them in Egypt, rather than going all this way and dying of starvation in the desert. At night they ate quail (v. 13), then manna fell like dew and when dried they would gather enough for them to eat for that day – one omer per person.  If they gathered more and tried to save it, it would spoil.  On the day sixth day, they were to gather enough for two days (and it didn’t spoil!).  They began to celebrate the Sabbath – a day of rest for them. (v. 29-30)  To commemorate this provision of manna, the Lord told Moses who then told Aaron to put manna in a jar and to keep it with the tablets on which the 10 commandments were written.

Exodus 17: The people complained that there was no water at Rephidim. The Israelites were victorious as long as Moses hands holding his staff were held up in the air.

Exodus 18: Jethro suggested that Moses teach the people God’s commandments and how to behave, and that he appoint among his people judges to decide cases that were not complicated.

Ephesians 4: When we speak the truth in love, we grow to become like Jesus.  When we hold on to our anger we give the devil a foothold in our lives.
