Pastor Bob’s sermon is taken from Matthew 16:21-28. When Jesus explained the true mission of the Messiah to the disciples, Peter took Him aside and rebuked Him. Peter, who had just declared His conviction that Jesus was the very son of God; could not accept the idea of a servant Messiah who would face persecution and even death. In this passage, Jesus’ message to us is very clear, there is no such thing as Christianity without the cross.
