Saturday 1-Jun 2 Kings 6-8; Ps 70; Romans 11

2 Kings 6: Elisha’s servant was anxious when he saw the great army.  How were his fears calmed? What did the king of Israel blame Elisha for?

2 Kings 7: How did the famine end?

2 Kings 8: Who did Ben-Hadad seek to ask if he would recover from his disease? What was he told? How did he die?

Romans 11: What has Israel’s blindness done for the Gentiles?

Journal Prompt: Carefully consider verse 22.  How is God speaking to you through that verse?

Answers:

2 Kings 6:  Elisha prayed that God would allow the servant to see the army of God’s horses and chariots of fire that were on the mountains.  They would have an even greater army fighting on their behalf.

The king of Israel blamed Elisha for the famine that was so great that a woman ate her own son.

2 Kings 7: The Lord caused the Syrian army to believe that they were being attacked by the Israelites and the Hitites, so they fled, leaving all of their possessions behind.  Three lepers discovered the empty camp and they advised the king.  The plunder was so great it reversed the plight of the Israelites.

2 Kings 8:  Bed-Hadad sought Elisha to see if he would recover.  Elisha told Hazael to tell him that he would recover, but he also prophesied that the king wouldn’t live because Hazael himself would kill him.  Hazael suffocated the King of Syria with his bedclothes.

Romans 11: Israel’s blindness has allowed the Gentiles to be brought in as God’s chosen people.
