Saturday, Feb 9: Today is the Day

Today is the day – the day that we begin two of the more difficult books to read in the Bible.  A lot of people fall away from their commitment to read through the Bible when they get to Leviticus and Numbers.  Why?  It’s a lot of rules and regulations – many of which don’t seem to make sense to us. We all want to hear God speak to us through His Word, and when we read some of the more confusing parts we can get frustrated.   Then there are a lot of genealogies of names that are just about impossible to pronounce.

I want to encourage you today to stick with it.

If you are really struggling with it, I suggest you listen to it.  Did you know you can listen to the entire book of Leviticus in under an hour and twenty minutes.  That’s just a few car rides!  Think about listening while you are folding laundry, taking the dog for a walk,  or waiting in line at the bank!!  I listened to almost all of Leviticus on a walk along the beach this morning.

And remember:

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,  so that the servant of God[may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.  2 Timothy 3:16-17

For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.  Hebrews 4:12

And in Jesus’ words when tempted by Satan:  “But he answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’

That’s good enough for me.  What about you?
