Psalms 5; 3; 41-42
These psalms, attributed to David, are both petitions for salvation from enemies and praises to God for His love and salvation.
I will come into Your house in the multitude of Your mercy: David is confident in God’s love for him – He is not claiming that he is righteous and his enemies are sinners; he is standing firm on God’s promise of mercy.
I love the Message version of Psalm 42: 6-8
When my soul is in the dumps, I rehearse
everything I know of you,
From Jordan depths to Hermon heights,
including Mount Mizar.
Chaos calls to chaos,
to the tune of whitewater rapids.
Your breaking surf, your thundering breakers
crash and crush me.
Then God promises to love me all day,
sing songs all through the night!
My life is God’s prayer.
