2 Kings 10: What did Jehu ask of the elders who raised Ahab’s sons? What did Jehu do to forty-two of Ahaziah’s brothers? How did Jehu fool the Baal worshipers?

Rom 12: What is our spiritual worship (v. 1)?  How do we transform our minds?  What gifts does Paul mention in verses 6-8?

Journal Prompt:  What gift do you feel God has given you and are you using the gift for His kingdom?

Answers:

2 Kings 9: Jehu was anointed King of Israel.  The first two messengers joined Jehu.  Jehu came to kill Joram as he had been commanded. It was prophesied that the blood of Ahab’s descendants would be shed on the plot of ground taken by Ahab from Naboth and there would be none to reign on the throne.

2 Kings10: Jehu asked the elders who raised Ahab’s sons to behead them and send him the heads in baskets as a sign of their loyalty to Jehu.  Jehu killed Ahab’s brothers and he fooled the Baal worshipers by pretending to hold a great sacrifice for the Baal worshipers, then he killed them.

Romans 12: Our spiritual worship is to offer our bodies to God as living sacrifices – serving God.  We transform our minds by renewing them in the Word of God.  Paul mentions these gifts: service, teaching, exhortation, generosity, leadership, and acts of mercy with cheerfulness.
