Monday, February 17: Exodus 35-37; Psalm 26; Philippians 4

Get ready – we are entering into some of the more challenging readings.  You may find some of this to be extremely detailed and repetitive, but do your best to stick with it.  If you get bogged down, try listening to it on an audio version.  I have the bible.is app and I’ll change it up and listen to it in Spanish!  I’m here to encourage you, so call me – 787-717-4001.

Exodus 35: Much of this is repetitive – we first read about it in Exodus 25 when the Lord gave the instructions to Moses.  Now Moses is giving the instructions to the people.  What were the names of the master craftsmen?

Exodus 36:  Did the people bring enough materials to complete the work that needed to be done to prepare the Tabernacle and its furnishing?

Exodus 37:  What was the bronze basin made from?  How much gold was used.  How many Israelite men had crossed over from Egypt?

Philippians 4: What are we to think upon?

Journal Prompt: What do our hearts and minds need to be guarded or protected from? How are we guarded “in Christ Jesus”?

ANSWERS

Exodus 35:  The names of the master craftsmen and overseers of all of the work were Bezalel from the tribe of Judah and Oholiab from the tribe of Dan.  Not only were they have God-given talent (v. 31), they were also given the ability to teach others (v. 34)

Exodus 36: The people brought in so many materials that Moses had to order them to stop bringing any more! (v. 6)

Exodus 37:  The bronze basin was made from the ladies’ mirrors.  29 talents of gold were used – according to my Bible that is the equivalent of 1 ton. In total there were 603,500 Israelite men over the age of 20.

Philippians 4:  We are to ‘think upon’, ‘fix our minds on whatever is “true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.”
