Acts 14: What cities did Paul and Barnabas visit? Why did Paul and Barnabas tear their clothes in Lystra?

Journal Prompt: How do you see God’s hand at work in the persecution and trials faced by Paul and Barnabas?

Answers:

2 Samuel 1:  David killed him because he claimed to have killed Saul at Saul’s request.  His story is probably not true.(see 1 Samuel 31:5).

2 Samuel 2:  David was annointed king of Judah.  Abner was Saul’s cousin and commander of the armed forces and he put Saul’s son (this son had not been mentioned prior to this occasion) on the throne of the rest of Israel.  Joab was David’s nephew (son of Zeruaih) and commander of David’s armed forces.

Acts 14: Paul and Barnabas visited Iconium, Lystra, Derbe, back to Lystra, then Iconium, Pisidia, Pamphylia, Perga, Attalia and on to Antioch in Syria.  In Lystra, Paul healed a man crippled from birth, so all who saw it began to worship them as gods and call him Hermes and Barnabas, Zeus.
