2 Kings 20: What did Isaiah tell Hezekiah regarding his illness? What did Hezekiah do when visited by the Babylonian envoys?

Romans 16: How many women are mentioned among the people Paul personally greets?  What is Paul’s final appeal?

Journal Prompt:  What do 2 Kings 19 and 20 reveal about prayer?

Answers:

2 Kings 19:  Isaiah is mentioned for the first time in this chapter (I think).  Hezekiah received a threatening letter from the king of Assyria challenging God of the Israelites.  Isaiah prophesied that the Lord would protect Israel from the Assyrians.  The Lord killed 185,000 Assyrians and they retreated.  The king of Assyria was killed by two of his sons while worshiping in the house of one of their gods.

2 Kings 20:  First, Isaiah told Hezekiah that he would die.  Then Hezekiah humbled himself before the Lord and prayed.  Then the Lord spoke to Isaiah and told him to tell Hezekiah he would add fifteen years to his life. Hezekiah showed the Babylonians everything – all of the wealth and treasure.

Romans 16:  Paul greets 28 people, 10 of which are women. Paul’s final appeal: “to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them.”
