Psalm 4:3 “Know that the LORD has set apart the godly for Himself; the LORD will hear when I call to Him.” You are “set aside” for the LORD! I wrote in my journal after this, “I am Yours!” I love it! AND He hears our prayers when we call to Him. He truly is “our prayer-answering God!”
Here’s a beautiful prayer to pray: Psalm 4: 6b “Let the light of Your face shine upon us, O LORD.” Go ahead – personalize it and pray it right now out loud: “Let the light of Your face shine upon ME, O LORD!” Will you do me a favor? Will you pray it out loud for our church? “Let the light of Your face shine upon our church, O LORD, upon 2nd Union Church!”
Psalm 34:3 (I think I’ll open our service with these words this Sunday morning): “Glorify the LORD with me; let us exalt His Name together.” Sure hope you’ll be here with us for corporate worship! Remember His promises: 1. “Wherever I cause My Name to be honored I will come to you and bless you.” (Exodus 20:24b) 2. “God is present in the company of the righteous.” (Psalm 14:5). We will honor His Name this Sunday morning: Jehovah-Mekaddishkem – the LORD Who makes us holy. According to His Word, I fully expect Him to come to us and bring blessings! We are “the righteous.” (Remember “the Divine Exchange, 2 Cor. 5:21)? It’s amazing GOD will be present with us this Sunday. Don’t miss Him!
Psalm 34:7 “The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear Him and he delivers them.” I truly believe in unseen angels who protect us. In fact, at times I pause and thank God for them. Kim and I could share stories, especially in our travels, how we have sensed the protection of those angels. How about you?
Psalm 34:15a “The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous…” Next time we’re together ask me about how I took this verse and adapted it to a Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons song released in 1967! I think you’ll smile! J
Psalm 34:18 “The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” If these words describe how you’re feeling, I have been praying that the Holy Spirit will take God’s Word this Sunday and “strengthen, encourage and comfort” you. If you need prayer, please come up at the close of the service and allow me the honor of us praying together. Remember His invitation: “Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28) “Cast all your cares on Him, for He cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7)
Let me extend another “invitation” from our Master for You to join us in corporate worship this Sunday. It’s found in Psalm 64:10, “Let the righteous rejoice in the LORD and take refuge in Him. Let all the upright in heart praise Him!”
Psalm 94:14 “For the LORD will not reject His people; He will never forsake His inheritance.” You do realize this includes us, don’t you?! He’ll never reject us! He’ll never forsake us!
Psalm 94:17-19 I love these words. They are my testimony. How about you? “Unless the LORD had given me help, I would soon have dwelt in the silence of death.” (My version: “I would have never made it!) When I said, ‘My foot is slipping,’ Your love, O LORD supported me”. And I especially love verse 19, “When anxiety was great within me, Your consolation brought joy to my soul.” A-h-h-h! J
Let’s close for today with Psalm 124:8, “Our help is in the Name of the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.”
Counting today, there’s only 4 more days till Sunday. Can’t wait to see you and worship together!
