For those of us who have been blessed with Christian parents and grandparents who brought us up in the church and nurtured our hearts to be open to Jesus at an early age Psalm 71:5-6 and 17a are our grateful testimony, “You have been my hope, O sovereign LORD, my Confidence since my youth. From birth I have relied on You. You brought me forth from my mother’s womb. I will ever praise You. Since my youth, O God You have taught me.” How extremely grateful I am for my Christian heritage! If you also have been so blessed, why not pause right now and give Him thanks.
I also love Psalm 71:23, “”My lips will shout for joy when I sing praise to You – I, whom You have redeemed. We’ll be doing just that this Sunday morning as we gather for worship. Let me give you a “heads up” on a song new to Second Union which we’ll sing this Sunday. Here it is. Listen to it a few times and enjoy.
Psalm 101:2b-3a are verses I have prayed a lot over the years, “I will walk in my house with a blameless heart. I will set before my eyes no vile thing.” In my Bible I have written next to these verses, “My goal!” Let’s pray together, “Holy Spirit, empower me that I will be able to walk with a blameless heart. Help me to manifest the fruit of the Spirit of self-control and not ‘set before my eyes any vile thing’ – especially on my computer and TV. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
I’ll close with another verse I’ve been praying, even more so recently, “I have stilled and quieted my soul; like a weaned child with its mother, like a weaned child is my soul within me.” Lord, train us to still and quiet our souls in Your presence.
Have a great day. See you here tomorrow.
