Today we begin our month-long adventure reading through the Psalms. Here are two verses I will be praying before I start my reading each morning:
“Open my eyes that I might behold wondrous things from Your Word.” (Psalm 119:18)
“Send out Your Spirit and Your Word; let them guide me. Let them lead me to Your presence, yes Your very presence. I will come to You God, the Source of all my joy.” (My adaptation of Psalm 43:4-5)
May the Holy Spirit quicken the Scriptures to you and breathe His life into You as you read. May you literally behold “wondrous things” as He guides you into His very presence!
God bless you richly! Let’s do it!
Pastor
Psalm 1 What a great way to start – being promised His blessing, His happiness in our life as we reject the ways of “the world” and find our “delight” in God’s Word. Look for specific blessings available to YOU in verse 3.
Psalm 31 David’s going through some really rough times (verses 9 – 13). His response: he “takes refuge in the LORD” (verse 1). He cries out to the LORD (verse 2-5). Here are some prayers YOU can pray today from this psalm:
No matter what happens today, “I trust in You, O LORD; I say, ‘You are my God. My times are in Your hands.” (verse 14-15a)
“Let Your face shine on Your servant.” (verse 16a)
“How great is Your goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear You” which You have stored up for ME! (Verse 19)
Let’s close out Psalm 31 with this prayer from verses 20 & 21:
“In the shelter of Your presence You hide me… In Your dwelling You keep me safe. Praise be to You, O LORD, for You have shown Your wonderful love to me!”
Psalm 61 Go ahead – pray verse 3 out loud right now: “You have been my Refuge, a Strong Tower against the foe!”
For those of us who were blessed with godly parents, can you declare with gratitude to Him right now these words from verse 5, “You have given me the heritage of those who fear Your Name.” THANK YOU Lord for my parents and grandparents and their godly influence in my life.
Psalm 91 I love this psalm. About this time last year (2024) the LORD clearly spoke to me through verses 14-16. May He speak to you also:
“Because he loves me, says the LORD, I will rescue him.
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
He will call upon me, and I will answer him.
I will be with him in trouble. I will deliver him and honor him.
With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation.”
Psalm 121 The LORD watches over you – day and night, 24/7. This psalm is SO good. The Brooklyn Tabernacle choir has a wonderful presentation of this psalm in song. Here is the Youtube link. Why don’t you close out your morning with Jesus in the psalms with this song! Have a great day!
