Psalm 19 Since we had an entire sermon on this psalm recently, allow me to simply share from a prayer in my journal this morning. “Thank You LORD for Your Word / the Bible. It is “perfect” (verse 7a). It does “revive my soul.” (verse 7b). It does “give joy to my heart.” (verse 8b). By Your Word, “I am warned and You keep me from evil and in keeping / obeying it I trust, one day, You will reward me. (verse 11). (Actually, You’re rewarding me already!)
I sincerely pray the words of verses 12b-14, ‘Forgive my hidden faults. Keep Your servant from willful sins; may they not rule over me. Rather, may the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in Your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.” Amen
Psalm 49 Just one verse from this psalm, verse 15, “God will redeem my life from the grave. He will surely take me to Himself.” Thank You for the hope, the promise of resurrection (and reunion!)” Amen
Psalm 139 I love this psalm also. Allow me to simply share again the prayer from my journal this morning. (Perhaps you can pray it also!) “LORD, you know all about me (verses 1-4) yet You still protect me (verse 5a) and ‘have laid Your hand upon me.” (verse 5b). Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.” (verse 6) You are always with me: “Wherever I am, You are!” (verses 7 – 12) You created, ‘formed’ me and are in control of all the days of my life.” (verses 13 -16) I love You, O LORD, my Strength!
I hope you are enjoying our adventure through the psalms this month as much as I am! See you in church Sunday. We are going to celebrate and worship our exalted King!
