Day 18
Psalm 18 I’ve told you before, Psalm 18 is one of my very favorite psalms. Verse 1, “I love You, O LORD, my strength.” Has become a prayer I pray several times every day. It’s the only verse of the Bible I know in three languages, English, Spanish and Mandarin. And then verse 2 has so many Names / Titles for the LORD: “The LORD is my Rock, my Fortress, and my Deliverer. My God is my Rock, in Whom I take refuge. He is my Shield and the strength of my salvation, my Stronghold.” When I read this verse I want to sing and praise the LORD with this song:
There are so many great, reassuring verses in this psalm it’s hard to select only a few. But I have to choose verse 19b “He rescued me because He delighted in me.” Next to this verse in my Bible I have written in red ink, “WOW!”
Psalm 48:14 “For this God is our God for ever and ever. He will be our guide even to the end.” YES!
Psalm 78 is very much a teaching psalm. It’s message is the importance that we teach the next generations. Hear verses 3 – 7, “What we have heard and known, what our fathers have told us, we will not hide them from their children; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the LORD, His power and the wonders He has done.” I think this speaks of telling our children and grandchildren what the LORD has done in our lives and the lives of our parents, grandparents. Tell them your family’s story of faith. He goes on to write, “He decreed statutes for Jacob and established the law in Israel which He commanded our forefathers to teach their children.” We must also faithfully teach our children the Scriptures, the Bible. We don’t relegate it to the church’s Sunday School. Why? “So the next generation would know them, even the children yet to be born, and they in turn would tell their children. Then they would put their trust in God and would not forget His deeds but would keep His commands.”Share the story with your adult children, your teenagers, your young children, your grandchildren. Share the story!
Psalm 138 “The LORD will fulfill His purpose for me.” Psalm 138:8a I’m holding on to this one! I am “Confident in Him” (Philippians 1:6). What joy is ours! Our men’s breakfast group talked about this yesterday as we looked at Jude 1 which tells us we are “kept by Jesus Christ.” It gives me such confidence and assurance to know that the LORD will fulfill His purpose for me. It’s true for You too. Rejoice!
See you right here tomorrow!
