Interdenominational Worship Sundays at 10am

Day 2

Congratulations!  You’ve got two days in a row reading His wonderful promises from the Psalms.  (If you’re just joining us today, “Welcome!”)  Today’s readings:  Psalms 2, 32, 62, 92, 122.

Psalm 32  I love Psalm 32.  I call it “The Blessedness of Forgiveness.”  David writes and praises God for the joy of God’s forgiving grace toward him.   In verses 1 & 2 he talks about how blessed / happy we are when we experience God’s forgiveness.  In verses 3 & 4 he  compares this joy with the misery he  experienced when he tried to ignore his sin and didn’t confess and “come clean” with God.   Verse 5 is the key, “Then I acknowledged my sin to You and did not cover up my iniquity.  I said, ‘I will confess my transgressions to the LORD”  and here’s the REALLY good part: “And You forgave the guilt of my sin!”   I love it!!!

In verse 6 he instructs us, “Therefore” (remember “the rule of the ‘therefore’” when reading Scripture: find out what the “therefore” is there for!).  In this case David says, “I sinned.  I failed God.  I tried to ignore it and cover it up; that didn’t work.  I was miserable!  Then I came to my senses and confessed my sins and HE FORGAVE ME.  He experiences this “blessedness” and he wants everyone else to have the same blessings – therefore , “let everyone who is godly pray to You..”

Why not take a few moments right now, bow your head in humbling before the LORD. (If you want to get really “radical” get out of your seat and kneel before Him in humble confession).  Pray those words from our sermon from Psalm 19 this past Sunday, “Forgive my hidden faults.  Keep Your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me.”  Rather today, “May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.” (Psalm 19:12-14)

I hope and pray you experience today “the blessedness of forgiveness.”  Let’s close out with a song again.  In verse 7 David tells God in grateful praise, “You are my Hiding Place.”  I’ve attached the Youtube link for this song.  Enjoy!

Have a great day experiencing the blessedness of forgiveness.  I’ll see you right here tomorrow!
