Isaiah 64; Ps 119:9-16; 1 John 2

Isaiah 64: Who does God help?  Why was Israel’s righteousness like filthy rags?

1 John 2: What is “the anointing that you received from him abides in you”?  How can we recognize the antichrist? 

Journal Prompt:  1 John 1 tells us that we cannot love the world. Why not? What in the world do you love?  What can you do about it?

Answers:

Isaiah 64: God helps those who wait on God and rejoice in doing good. Israel’s righteous acts were not out of a pure and sincere heart because they were deep in sin. They were like trying to clean something with a dirty rag.

1 John 2:  We are anointed by the Holy Spirit.  The antichrist will deny the Son and the Father.
