Isaiah 50:From what would the servant not hide? Who are we to trust when we are in darkness?
James 1:What will help us be saved? How can we deceive ourselves?
Journal Prompt: James 1 warns us to “be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger”. Think of some examples from the past week where you have failed to heed this warning and write about them.
Answers:
Isaiah 50:He will not hide from the people in shame or from their persecution. He gave them the word of God. We are to trust in God when we are in darkness.
James 1:Doing or following the principles of God according to His word will
save our soul. By being doers of the word you will remove yourself from all
filthiness and wickedness. By thinking it is good enough just to know and hear
the Word we neglect doing the principles of God. You can forget what you hear
but by applying the word to your life you keep it in focus and you allow
yourself to be changed by it. You deceive yourself by denying that works are
necessary in our faith and therefore there is no true change in you.
