Our readings today are from the Psalms: 3; 4; 12; 13; 28; 55.
In light of what we have been reading in 2nd Samuel, do these Psalms take on a more specific significance? David’s first born son is dead and his second son has turned against him and he has turned the hearts of the people against their king. One of David’s most trusted advisors, Ahitophel (Bathsheba’s grandfather), has abandoned him and joined Absalom. At the end of 2 Samuel 15, he ascends the Mount of Olives to worship God in the midst of this tribulation.
